So I just repotted my N ventricosa cutting into a fairly large hanging basket. My plan is to hang it from a shepherds crook behind my maple tree. It should get a bit of morning sun, then get light filtered through the maple for most of the rest of the day, with the possibility of some direct afternoon sun for a brief period. I think I can position it to limit the afternoon sun. Does that sound like a good placement for it? Any other tips on putting it outside? This will be my first time trying one outside. I'm hoping the large pot will prevent it from drying out too fast, especially since the pot is open at the bottom. Our night time temps are finally above freezing, and are forecast for 10-12 C for the most part at night.

Those conditions seem ideal.

Cool. Thanks guys. We have a cold night tonight (3C) then it warms up for the foreseeable future. So I'll hang it out on Saturday.

3°C is a bit low. My Miranda is fine @ 5-7°C at night when it's acclimated in the fall.

1 little tip if you can try to cover the top of the pot with black plastic gutter screen from the dollar store or at least something to keep the squrles out, they will dig & most likely up root your prize Nep.

It's in a difficult area for squirrels to get to, hanging from a shepherds hook. I just got back from a 3 week vacation, and it still appears to be alive, but very little for new growth so far.

What change in care if any is needed when you move the plants back inside for fall?
