Hello Brad - Fantastic, that's nice work! I have recently been thinking it would be good to try to induce my cephs to bloom. Any tips beyond attempting to get them to do a full rosette of all non-carnivorous leaves? I think it has a lot to do with Size and then daylight hours, these guys live on the south wall of the greenhouse they see a lot of direct sun this time of year ( no shade clothe yet) night time lows are 13-14C fall, winter and spring. Daytime temps from about Mid Feb to end of Oct are 30C most days. Even In these conditions the other 12 pots of Cephs just continued making traps all year long, no other flowers spikes from other pots.

I wonder if smoke would initiate flowering (probably in plants of a certain size). A recent ICPS article linked fires to the ceph. growth cycle.

Hi Brad - Thanks for the reply! I do a decent job of making seasonal cycles for my tuberous dews, but light intensity doesn't really change much. That's not a bad thought. It's interesting they didn't all flower. Ive gotten this with other CP's too. My D. slackii is guilty of this. Same clone, different pots, one will bloom and not the rest. Don't know why.
Hi Lloyd - It might do. I wonder what would be the best way to administer it successfully? I'll have to check out the article.

I have smoke granules if you want any.

Hi Lloyd - That's super nice of you to offer! I know you have said this somewhere else on the forum, but what precisely are smoke granules? If they work it would imply it was soluble compounds that would be responsible for the response. I wonder if that means real liquid smoke would work? Could mist it, or apply as a soil drench and see if either works. Hmmm...

Seed places sell smoke granules, vermiculite with smoke chemicals. Liquid smoke might work.

Hi Lloyd - Yes, now I remember. I might try a little liquid smoke. See how it works out.

Very cool. As good as my cephs grow, I have yet to get a flower. Hope you get a ton of seeds off of it.

New flower spike on one of my seed grown "Rareas Sand site" , I germanated this plant almost two years ago. The spike looks different than the first "typical" form, for what ever reason.

Looks awesome Brad! I've got a couple going to flower this season as well, we should trade some seed if I manage to get some.

Any tips on enticing them to flower? I have three pots now that my pullings took. I'd love to see one flower.

My theory? Photoperiod and cool winter temps. It's proven that Drosera hamiltonii won't flower without these changes and they grow next to each other.
Anyone have any experience flowering a ceph without any seasonal change?

Anyone have any experience flowering a ceph without any seasonal change? Makes sense to me, these guys are way cooler in the winter and have a 12 hour photoperiod as opposed to the longer one now.

Mine are grown in an east facing window with no supplemental light, so they have the photo period. Temps are probably around 64-68 in winter, now up to 70-80 with the sun. The growth on them is incredible.

Hi Brad - That is quite a different spike! This one also looks like it's done a rosette of flat leaves first as well. I'm learning a ton from your thread here, thanks!
