Hey Everyone,
One of the cool features of these polls for plant of the month is that we can see who voted. It got me thinking that it would be nice to reward members that submit photos and vote on a regular basis.
I am going to take all of the names of people that submit a plant and the people that vote for a plant into a metaphorical hat. If you submit and vote you get your name in twice! Once or twice a year I'll choose a name at random (and provide the random number generator results to be fair) and they'll get a box of free plants.
I can always fill this box with temperate plants (Sarrs, Drosera, Pings ext.) but if you don't grow outdoor plants I'll make sure its filled with Nepenthes cuttings or something you'll want to grow. If nothing tickles your fancy I'll make sure you are happy (stained glass CP's?)
I hope this encourages members to post a plant even if you don't think it will win, think of it more as sharing what you have this month!
Happy posting and voting!
J.

I think that's great incentive to try to get more members to participate, and very generous on your part. I try to get a plant in as often as I can even though my collection is still sorely lacking and I know that my plants will never win, (yet! ). It surprises me every month that there are so few entries. I'm doing the 'Biggest VFT Trap 2015' contest and I really hope that people will take part. I think that organising things like this keeps it 'fresh' around here and were not just reading old threads. Thumbs up H20!

I just realized that its been an entire year for our Plant of the Month Contest!
I'm going to compile a list of submissions and voters for the last year and get a name picked for the first winner. (EDIT: after everyone has voted for March)
To provide transparency I will be posting the entire list of people (your name will be on the list multiple times if you submitted or voted multiple times) on the moderators sections. After that has been posted I will ask a non-mod member to generate a list of random number that they can post on this thread. All of the mod will be able to see who the winner is so we aren't cherry picking someone.

I sense the opportunity for charts and graphs! Got to love data crunching.

I got everyones names down for all the times they entered and all the times they voted. I was happy to see that there are a couple members that are religious about voting even if they never entered. Thanks to everyone that has participated. I hope this year will be even better.
Random draw to come soon!

I'll be going through all the old submissions and votes this coming month to come up with a winner or two.

I've finished adding up all of the entries and votes! 39 members participated in the first year April 14 - March 15 with 73 plants entered and 173 votes (included the tiebreaker)
I'm just finalizing prizes and will generate random numbers after they're ready. Essentially every entry and every vote counted as a point throughout the year, I'll generate a number between 1 and 246, count out that many points and whoever has that entry/vote will win.
Once we've finished March 2016 I'll do the same thing. Lots of winners for this spring.

Ok to be above board I've posted the chart I created into the Mod section, I didn't want to make it public in case people didn't want to share how much they voted (note that I can ONLY see that you voted not who you voted for) So now I turn this over to whoever wants to generate the numbers, obviously a Mod can't pick these numbers as we've seen the chart. Whoever would like to pick winning numbers please visit, www.random.orgInput should be between 1 and 246 and please choose 5 numbers, the first three will be winners and the extra two in case no one claims their prize. If you want to take screenshots of the results that would be great, if not thats fine as well. Please post them in this thread. For those interested in what the prizes are.... First place gets first pick, second place second pick and third place gets the remaining prize. $35 to BCP with free paperwork (Shipping not included to your address) $50 off an order with myself (shipping not included) and finally a small package of plants from Canada's favourite CP supplier bonfield (shipping not included) Ordering times and details will be sent to the winners. Good luck to everyone.

We have our three winners, I never thought one person would win multiple times but thats why we chose the extra numbers. Congrats to the winners and I will be PMing you all shortly to pick your prizes.
