Hi Lloyd - You know, I don't know anything about smoke granules. I really can't say. What are they? I mean, the name gives me some idea, but technically.

Vermiculite with smoke chemicals in it. For seed germination. I'm trying to speed up my ceph growth with it.

Hi Lloyd - Interesting. I've never heard of this product. In regard to the induction of flowering in tuberous dews, I would imagine it would depend on what chemicals they are triggered by exactly versus which chemicals are contained in the vermiculite. I have no experience and could only venture a guess. May I ask why you think it will increase the growth rate of your ceph?

There was an article in the ICPS about fires driving the multiyear ceph growth cycles.

...Yes, I will be doing a 'Ceph Burn' in the spring as an experiment. I'll try to do a video of it and post it as well. Should be interesting, I'm worried I may lose too many Cephs though. Merry Christmas to Everyone!

Hope these grow like weeds and make a small forest for you.

The chemical that has been found in smoke products to help induce germination of species in fire-prone areas is karrikinolide. Many species in the Australian bush respond well to a summer heat stratification, sort of the reverse of what we need up here to get temperate species going. In recently burned areas of the outback the aforementioned chemical helps boost germination numbers over and above heat stratification alone.
An update to my original post about D. zonaria. The plant did flower but did not produce seed because I have but a single clone! This tiny plant was not done, though. It had one more surprise for me this season. It unexpectedly split into two plants!
