My journey though the bogs has led me to many species of carnivorous plants. The only one that I did not take a picture of (since it was hard to focus on it under water and the flowers were too far away for my phone) was the utricularia I found. Not sure what species, maybe U.cornuta? D. Rotundifolia growing on a floating log.

D.intermedia Here's something not plant related: Found this northern water snake while searching though the bogs. She was basking where the D. intermedia and D. rotundifolia grew. Returned her back to area she was caught after some photos.

Love those photos. They inspire me to get out and explore. You must have a way with snakes. Every water snake I've encountered has had a mean temper and nasty bite.

This one was docile. Maybe it's the 6+ years experience with handling reptiles, but most of the animals I catch calm right down once I pick them up. The trick is to let them slither on you and never grip them. You should totally go out and explore, hal. It's a lot of fun finding and observing carnivorous plants in their natural habitat. Here's something else I caught: Common snapping turtle. I actually caught three, this one was the most aggressive. The other two were so docile I could have hugged them and not get bitten. Also escorted a few of them off roads in the past trips. Don't want cars to hit these beasts, haha.
