I used smoke granules and sowed them just covered by the medium.

amazing job man. This is one of my favourite plants. But definitely not one for a tank. Sometime in the future perhaps.

Hi Lloyd - I'm not as familiar with smoke granules. I've only used smoke primer disks. I soak the seeds on the disks in a small amount of water for 48 hours and then surface sow them. I place plastic wrap over the top of the pot to keep them moist until they germinate for transfer (they get checked daily for this - often more frequently, as I get impatient). But the key seems to be cool nights. Frost even seems to help. I've never gotten germination any other time that during autumn frosts and cool nights. Back when I first tried this plant, I was told by a first rate grower that those cool nights are key. He said that you can sometimes get germination otherwise, but if you want consistent results it's autumn sowing. So far what I've tried has supported that. But, I've not had access to enough seeds to do a real controlled study.

Hopefully I'll get some more seeds someday.
The smoke primer disks have the same chemical as the granules-I have both.
If I ever have another chance, I'll try cold at night.
I just ordered some seeds. Here's hoping.

...don't want to hijack AP's thread but I also didn't want to start a new one. I suspect there may be a connection anyways. Here are 3 little seedlings that germinated for me a couple of weeks ago. ...the third one is at about 3 o'clock position. Seed is still on it so it's hard to see. I'm really excited to have these going. Thanks for looking. AV.

Congrats AV! Hate to say this to you, but can't see the photos. Still, it's fantastic to hear you are having success with them. I'm always excited to see other CP folks growing Roridula - they are amazing CPs!
