I don't know if she (or anyone that works for her) lurks this forum but for the 10 seconds it takes it would have been nice for her to post a quick thread saying there was an open house. It's free advertising and these are the kind of things that all the Island growers could get together and do a trip for. I probably would have planned something but it's far too late now.
It seems like so many of the US and international vendors use the forums for free advertising and participate in discussions. I know it takes time but if people like Geoff of EP and Rob of BE can find the time I think anyone can.
I'm not saying that it's bad that vendors don't use the forum, just saying it would be nice.

I think it is because HB have proven themselves time and time again, and people here like them. Where as Urban Bog has yet to impress me in anywhere. Or at least that is why I think you hear about HB stuff all the time vs UB.

I'm making plans with a few cp friends in Vancouver to visit the Urban Bog! It's been awhile since I've last been on OCPS and the CP scene, and it's really nice to see more CP nurseries appearing! Thanks for mentioning the Urban Bog… I didn't know they existed until only a couple of weeks ago. Here's a link to their website: www.carnivorousplantsforsale.com

I'm disappointed in Urban Bog as they have so much sold out on their web-site. What will they have for their open house?

Hi, This is Christine; one of the people who works at the Bog. This thread was brought to our attention by one of our Fans on Facebook. Your right; it would be both beneficial and informative to the CP Community if we were more active on the forum. We are a pretty small operation, so for most of the time it's all hands in the greenhouse. That said, we hear you and will do out best to pop on once in a while. We will be open again to the public on July 12th. Same time, Noon to 4 p.m. Our 'Open House' Price List is done by the pot size to make things simple, with the exception of our Cephalotus, Nepenthes, and a few rarities that are not for sale, any plant in a: 2 1/2 in. pot $5 4 in. pot $10 6 in. pot $20 6 X 7 pot $25 9 X 8 pot $40We are featuring an 'As is' table with a few gems in it for the person who wants to take the time to dead head and separate group of plants that some how just start growing together! You can choose from pre-potted plants, or select your own from a tray. We are taking cash and credit cards only; and there is a 20% discount for purchases of $100 or more. We have more plants in our greenhouse then listed on the website. This is because we won't sell them unless they meet our distinctive requirement. It was a rough winter; the power went out on two of the coldest nights. Our hot house (Nepenthes) took a sever beating; and we are still licking our wounds over the number of plants we lost. We've got some great growth happening, pitchers forming and soon many of the plants will meet the distinctive requirement. Yeah! and may I say it again... Yeah! I will be sure to update the forum when we are ready to sell again. That said, our Nepenthes stock will be on limited availability, because we are completing a project for the University of Calgary. We are hoping it will be done by mid-August. Red sphagnum; we haven't been able to get any from the local collector since last August. However, the are are few patches (very few) in the last batch. We are hoping that there will be more in the next order. But we all know that you can't push Mother Nature, she will give it up when she does. Happy growing to all Christine Zapisocki Customer Care Advocate
