Soo iv seen people grow potted hardy cps in kiddy pools . I just told my dad to not throw out the old kiddy pool in the back yard and told him my plan. His question and now mine mosquito larva. How do u deal with mosquito and there larva with a standing pool of water like that? I know in the pond mosquito larva dont last long the fish love them. But in a kiddy pool id think the water would get too warm since its only a couple inches

go to a gold fish store and buy a bottomfeeder, all they do is eat plus they can get big like Koi fish big but start off the size of goldfish.

You could try Mosquito Dunks.

The pool/bog should be full of peat and sand so there's nowhere for the mosquito larvae to develop. They only grow in standing water, not wet soil.

I want to keep potted cps in it. If it almost drains /drains will that kill the larva? And the bottom feaders wont they die from the warn/hot water like a gold fish would?

Still, fill the pool With a 50/50 peat/stand mix And bury the pots in it.

I have trays full of water all around the yard and all I do is let the tray go dry for a day every couple weeks. Kills everything in the tray and one day is never going to dry out plants that have been sitting in water.

I've never had an issue with mosquitoes in my bog, water trays or pond. For all the reasons that were stated above: no standing water, I let it dry out and fish (respectively).
Another interesting tidbit about bogs and mosquitoes I learned from Pacific Rim National Park Reserve's Shorepine Bog Trail is this:
I am not sure how low the pH has to be to discourage mosquitoes or how acidic my bog is but it'd be an interesting thing to look up.

Out here I worry about it far less then when I lived out east. Out here I find if you miss a cycle it's not the end of the world.

Filling it up with peat and making holes for pots works very well, you don't have to water too much too plus as a added bonus you can grow other CPs in the soil outside the pots The only problem I find is in Ontario, birds find pot to be food platers

None succeeded lol !!!

They will find you and they will come... watch out , watch out
O and they don't take the pots the pots are all right whats in the pots they take. Birds find LFS really great nesting material so they dig it up. Just as a Heads Up

Yeah, last year, some crows came in my bog to take some LFS.
So what, it didn't bother me until they broke all the flower stalks and some pitchers with their wings when flying away.
I then put a net over everything.
