Finally one of my VFT babies has gone erect and has a opened trap on it..still seed sized I plan to let them escape dormancy for another year then let them nap in our shed for a few the following winter Halloween til V-Day! unless they surprise me and break dormancy early
Ideas or suggestions??

...hey Dennis, are you back from your sabbatical or have you not yet left? The forum's memory problems have already been discussed here. You must use a different hosting site to post your pics.

Gotta give her some credit! She sucessfully grows many CP's and in her later videos she does mention that she got some of the seeds to grow.

If you follow the video all the way through, she's doing a test of 3 different methods. She'd already tried a Mimosa, following the kit instructions and it didn't grow in the vermiculite provided, so she's trying a couple of other methods for the VFT. As it happens one of them is the right method for germinating VFT seeds.
- covered in peat moss - sprinkled on LFS - covered in vermiculite (which is what the instructions on her grow kit said, and she says in the video she doubts it will work)
What are the other 9 CP Commandments? As I heard it, Barry Rice brought them down from Auyan-tepui, carved into a slab of cork bark.

I really like her style. She's not afraid to try something new, she tries several methods, and she's quick to share findings with her peers. I'm my books that's exactly what Hobbies are all about. Btw Hal I like your pot head avatar. lol

Ten Commandments for Carnivorous Plants(feel free to change or add on)
1.Never bury seeds 2.Pure water only (Rainwater is ok and free) 3.Sphagnum peat moss (LFS is acceptable as well) 4.Mix in Perlite/vermiculite(usually 50/50) 5.Sprinkle seeds on media surface. 6.Never use potting soil 7.No fertilizers ever(There are exceptions like nepenthes and coffee) 7(a) If your not sure ask or do research on the plant(s) 8.Use correct size pots to let roots grow 9.Provide correct humidity 10.Provide light ,artificial, natural, or mixture(correct hours which may vary by plant)
