Neem oil is going to be harder to find on retail shelves.
Retailers were told that they were to use up or sell any remaining Neem Oil pesticide prevention products beginning in December of 2012.
Now i'm being told by the owner of my local hydro shop that as of Jan 1, 2014, all remaining Neem products are to be destroyed.
I stocked up today, just in case i have trouble finding this most valuable product, in the coming new year.
Has anyone else been following this story?

When I bought my Neem from Paramount Orchids, they told me neem oil was no longer legal to sell as a "pesticide" but is still legally allowed to be sold as "Leaf Polish". This could have changed since then as I purchased it around Dec 2011 I think. Here is the product they sell, which is just pure neem.

It's probably the same as No-Damp. Products have to have hard proof that they work. The price of getting the proof is prohibitive so the product is no longer produced. Neem oil is still legal to sell without any claims. You can also buy pure Neem Oil (a soft waxy product at room temperature) at health food stores.

So as of Jan 2014 it will no longer be sold as a pesticide but will still be available as pure Neem Oil then?

It sounds like it will still be available in some forms, but it might not be as available on store shelves, especially in the pesticide section.
I admit that I do not have the complete set of guidelines for how this will play out, but thought it might be a good idea to give some of the members here a heads up on this subject, especially if it does become harder to get a hold of in 2014.

It is so stupid how Canada restricts stuff. The loops companies have to jump through to get a product registered is just ridiculous.

If people really can't find it, I can check the health food place I bought it at once.

My local store srill have it. For those interested its in montreal at guydionne hydroponique. It is a natural product and they know it other wise ot would be banned years ago like all the other systenic psticide, algicide and fungicide. Big companies dont like it. G'day. My apologies for resurrecting this but I found a source for neem oil in Mississauga and quite reasonable - $11 for 1L: www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca/neem-carrier-oil-p-305.htmlThey have all sorts of oils and cosmetics base ingredients. It seems to be pure. I ordered karanja oil as well. Greg
