I updated all the ones that I lost since last year. My collection is now pretty small..I have two VFTs left, an all green typical one. The other one I am completely unsure whether it's a big mouth, low giant, B52 or dentate. I will know soon enough as it's coming out of dormancy and still is pretty small given the disaster it went through. I will be able to update my VFT list then. Just noticed my ceph has died away, most likely because of root rots. Bummer, I have been growing that guy since I started growing CPs about 2 years ago. Fungus gnats got my young Sarr and it does not seem to show any signs of growth at all. My Regia died of underfeeding during the winter. I fertilized it too late...at least I still have my prized neps. These except the highland ones have been seed grown, they are therefore hardly replaceable comparing to the other plants i lost. I will build my collection back slowly.

Hi Sekler - My condolences on your loses. If it helps any, we have all lost plants and even the experts lose one from time to time. The key is bouncing back with the same sort of determination you have expressed. You absolutely have the right spirit. I believe your collection will be back better than ever in no time.

Hi Sekler,
Good to see you're still at it with the hobby despite a few setbacks, which are bound to occur at some point with all of us.
Which of your CPs seem to be the easiest for you to grow?

Thanks dvg !
So far, nepenthes have been the easiest for me. Lowland or highland...my highland are young still so i know they most likely become pickier as they get older. I use no cooler nor anything of the sort. My highlands are located elesewhere in my place though !
Beside that, drosera regia has been quite easy given if it gets fed , otherwise it goes down fast.
Vfts and sarrs are quite easy if you can get the right amount of light for them. Dormance is the only trickier thing but i have never lost a plant over that period !
Hardest for me so far has been the ceph. I kept some from a few months to over a year, no matter the watering and type of soil, it crashes all of a sudden like lightning. Most likely root rot but the last i had i literally left the pot almost drying out before watering again...no dice. Oh well !

Hi Sekler,
Too bad for the crashing plants ...
About the ceph, mine have a bad tendency to crash too but for the past year, I kept a dome over them, watered less and lost none of them. Even my hummer seedlings from BCP are still going. I cross my fingers but I start to think that the low winter RH (because of electric heating) could be my problem.
I don't know if this can help you but I hope so.

Hey Shoggots,
I actually did the same this time, it seemed to have helped but loss of mosses and things of the like started to grow which I'm even thinking now may have choked my seedlings. I had the ones from BCP as well...I just checked now today a week or two after the plant was dead, it has two tiny green pitchers...perhaps I'll rescue it !!

Hi Sekler - That's fantastic news about your ceph! There is nothing quite as gratifying as rescuing a plant you thought was going to be compost. Good work, and keep us posted!
