I opened the Ziploc baggies a little bit today, since there seems to be lots of new growth. Hopefully within the next week, I'll be able to have the bags fully open, and then after that, they'll grow in the set-up like all my 'dews do!

WOW, Those look great. I am about to make an order from the flytrap store, any advice? Was there any issues with customs. Also how did you find the process of potting, I understand it can be a little tricky getting the plants out and cleaning the substrate off of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the forum! There were no problems with customs for me. Potting and cleaning took several hours.. although it could have taken less time if I had made the soil mix before receiving the plants. First I rinsed all of them thoroughly with tap water, then I put them in plastic baggies with the name of each clone written with Sharpie on the bags. Last, I rinsed them twice with distilled water.

Hi Devon - Wow, I just looked at this thread (sorry been busy) and that DC XL looks awesome! I'm not big into VFT's but that DC XL is big enough that my interest is piqued. I eagerly await updates on its growth.

I eagerly await updates on its growth. Thanks Apop. I like it too! Here's any update. The traps keep on closing for some reason. Not sure why... either something is wrong with my conditions, or there are spiders crawling all over them! I saw a spider closing a few Dracula traps a few night ago.. sorry about pic quality. long red fingers wacky traps dracula DC XL by far the most robust justina davis also kind of robust.. or just a fast grower biggest dc all red is quite small... some of them died dutch all of them They all look pretty much the same right now, but this fall when their colours and traits show, they will be awwessoomee!

Not sure how I missed this thread. Great looking traps Devon. Any updated pics of them? If they can get one big enough to eat grey squirrels, I just might have to order one.

Thanks James. They have not grown a lot since the last update.. They are outside now. I don't think they liked the soil I made; They have black growth tips on the traps, but are showing signs of recovery.
Wish I could grow them healthier!

Devon: You'll have lots of fantastic trading material, very soon! Wow! Looks like a very successful order. Matt: If I didn't know better, I'd say that was photoshopped! What a monstrous plant. How old is it? This photo is from a division of Steve's (my business partner) mother plant. I believe he got the original plant sometime in 2007 or 2008. I'm not sure how old the division was when I got it from him in January 2011. I also ordered 2 TC Flytraps from Flytrapstore. I paid for the phytosanitary certificate. It's now been 4 weeks from the day I ordered. I e-mailed them 5 days ago about the status of my order and have not receive a response. I'm impatient... Sorry for not replying. I don't recall getting an email asking about the status of any order, but this week has been a crazy one...the largest number of orders the FlytrapStore has ever had actually! But patience is required when placing a TC order. Unlike plants in stock at the actual FlytrapStore, I can't keep tubes sitting on the shelf and simply ship them as orders come in. Everything is "made to order" when a TC order comes in. For that reason it usually takes at least 6 weeks, sometimes 8 or longer (depending on the size of the order), to grow out the tubes and make them ready for shipping. Here, I just want to say that FTS is ALWAYS trying their best to serve their customers. I have ordered from FTS as well, and I just received them four days ago. It also took me about one and a half month for the order to come. It's quite long because Matt the one of the owners of FTS has to cut the fresh tissues and stuff when they receive your order. It takes a lots of work. However, when you see the quality of your plants, I'm sure you would feel all the waiting is worth it. Wish your plants the best!

Ordered 6 tubes on April 12 and am still waiting 11 1/2 weeks later. Got a Priority Mail International shipping notification on June 19th but the tracking stopped in Medford, Oregon on June 20th.

Dondew, i would not worry too much. I ordered mine around the same time and received them last week. For some reason the tracking stopped pretty much in Oregon as well. It took about two weeks for the package to come in. All tubes were intact and plants were in perfect condition. I am sure it will go well, FTS is a very reliable place to buy from!

Was busy so sealed the tubes in a Ziploc bag, placed them under low illumination from cool white fluorescents at 76°F and in 5 days they turned into black mush.
