The weather is oddly warm over here lately. It's supposed to be in the 20's this week already!
If the weather stays like this, I'll be bringing the plants out probably in April this year. Is anyone experiencing an early spring?

I put my flytraps outside, probably going to cover them at night though.

Last couple days here have been quite warm, yesterday being the warmest at 12C. Cooling off again the next week or so though.

It's been a mild winter. Brought most of my plants outdoors 5-6 days ago and they seem to be doing fine. Yesterday almost felt like summer.

I'm not taking mine in again unless we get a hard frost.

I put my pots out today and gave them a good water from the rain barrel. Everything seems to be doing fine and like Lloyd, they'll be staying out unless the weather turns really ugly. I have a dozen alata x exornata crosses in 4" plastic pots that I tossed on the compost heap and covered with a few inches of leaves and they seem fine, too.

Hmph. Maybe I'll take mine out this week then? I'm just worried this is a false spring.. Isn't spring usually in late April or early May?
Sorry about all of the questions..

The old rule used to be May 24th was the last frost and you'd wait until then before putting out tender plants. But it's been moving back every year, and there's even been a new grow zone map published. In Toronto spring used to start in mid-March and go to about mid May. I wouldn't be surprised if we had another cold snap and snow, but if I leave everything in the garage during these hot spells it will get confused. The plants were already putting up new phyllodia. In Stittsville, I think spring goes until about August, then they have 3 weeks of summer before the autumn starts.

One of my first tries with dormancy, I put them in the garage and they all froze and died. *edit* Ottawa sucks. I'm moving somewhere else as soon as possibru! "Spring and fall are variable, prone to extremes in temperature and unpredictable swings in conditions. Hot days above 30 °C (86 °F) have occurred as early as April (as in 2002) or as late as September, as well as snow well into May and early in October (although such events are extremely unusual and brief)"-Wikipedia
