I hope that your N talangensis does better than mine does... it drives me crazy when I look at it. The darned thing pitchered once a many months ago and hasn't done a thing since then. In my setup, it's a teaser - the tentacles lengthen and swell a tiny bit (emphasis is on "tiny") and then just sit there. When it pitchered previously, most of the previous growth that looked like they aborted all kicked back in at once and I had several pitchers. It doesn't look like it will do anything this time around.

well.....looks like the lone pitcher on it is drying up. The lid is starting to weather away. Interesting how it was fine for the 7 days during shipping but its weathering away when u bring it back to life in a new pot and so on. well....I remember reading that many ppl have the same sorta thing with the talang. You never know rick....suddenly all those tendrils will balloon out at once and form pitchers.

I've got six talangensis growing in the greenhouse. I think they're from 4 different clones, as the pitchers vary from plant to plant. I found that they stop producing pitchers once the temperatures get too warm for prolong periods. One of the techniques I've tried ...and sort of works well with all sorts of difficult to pitcher neps, is to bury the tendril into a bed of sphag. I think the coolness, and the "signal" of a solid base, encourages the nep to pitcher. Yep. I love these funnel shaped talagensis ... so much that I ordered extra plants of it during my last order to BE.

David, could you please tell me if your rajah ever gave you problems of "Tendrils not extending" and what did u do to fix it? Rick's and mine is doing the same thing. Did u ever have the problem of tendrils not extending? Rick has sufficient lighting for sure. I don't really have too much lighting for sure. What could be the reason? would it the same for both of us? Bad news: the talang's pitcher is showing weathering. I took a few more pics to reminisce the pitcher atleast till I get more.

Yes. When the rajahs first arrived in my greenhouse, they just sat there and took it's sweet time to sprout it's first new leaf.
It took exactly one year for the first pitcher to occur.
What is interesting is that the first pitchers occurred on "last year's leaves"... almost like the tendril buds were waiting for spring to arrive. Since they first pitchers started appearing, all leaves have been dropping tendrils and all have been ballooning into pitchers. My latest pitcher is approx. 4" tall.
I hadn't changed the lighting or temps or anything. I guess it took it's sweet time to adjust to the conditions of my greenhouse, or perhaps, sprout new roots or something.

Finally, an update to the list except one species that is missing as I am not sure if it will make it or not. Unfortunately...an extremely expensive one at that too. Also interesting that this is what my once extensive collection has declined to. I have already lost a few plants to the summer heat. I can't wait for winter to come back.
