Hi, ;D I am trying to setup a webcam for my terrarium that I can at intervals broadcast out images onto a website. Does anyone know of a good piece of software that would handle all the particulars for me. Currently I am messing with a mish mash of different things to try and MacGyver something . Hope to have it working soon. Leny

OK here goes nothing ;D sugarilla.org/Image1.jpgImage should update every 20 minutes. Image size is 250k roughly That means I am creating 18 megs of upload traffic to my site a day. I might want to find a picture server to send the files to and link from there... Currently this is rough no HTML, just a raw picture... and I really think the Camera should go on the inside of the Terrarium.. I will try it tomorrow.(water damage??) The program doing all the work is called Fwink and it's freeware. Leny ;D P.S. Actually lets try embedding it in the message and see how that goes..

Wow Leny! looks really impressive. You gotta show us a full view of the terrarium. What plants do u have in there...apart from the ventricosa, bical and that air plant. Did u plant them all in the terrarium or did u just put the pots in there? thanks, V

Bical and the vent are planted. A couple baby Truncatas in there as well from seed. There is a small Bromeliad..I rotate my stock of Tillandsias and small orchids in and out of there. Several diff Drosera from seed.. FlyTraps from seed... lots of different mosses I grabbed along the way. Its a small Terrarium front loading like one of Sibs frog habitats... Everything in there has been there just under a year... I use both LED and Flouros in this tank. I have a much larger 55gal on a lower shelf that I have recently started .. it will take at least a year before it really fills out. Might put the camera in there tomorrow.... I also think since the camera has mechanical rotation I would like to add a web component so that a visitor can rotate the camera... either that or have it automatically pan slightly throughout the day. Might be neat to have a website with nothing but live terrarium cams Sure would beat watching FOX Leny

lol! true! I would seriously want a system like that. I mean when I remake my setup (as my grow stand is literally falling apart), I wanted to impliment a greenhouse style climate control which I can check on the internet if I am at my lab in uni. SO on the fly I can check temperatures, humidity etc. A webcam which can show me my plants will be top notch as well. Thanks for searching for the program BTW. I couldn't really help out becos i never had a webcam and I never bothered to look for anything regarding programs for it.

GAwd that looks so cool! Real nice colours LenyNero!
I'd love to set up a webcam on my frog tanks. Can one of these cams be hooked up on a MAC system? and what kind of camera are you using? The focus is very sharp and clear.
Thanks.

haha that's pretty cool- you should add bonus objects in there from time to time, if I was doing it I'd put a different action figure in there every once in a while

That is a really nice system you have there. Is it possible to save all the pictures you took automatically? Then you can compile them into a movie.
