Hi DVG - Well time marches on and plants grow. One of my little flypaper plants is quite the little bug catcher. It's taking down some impressively large prey given its small size. Repotting is next for mine. How are yous doing?

Here's an update on my African bug plant. And a bit of a close-up to hopefully show some of the resin on this plant. It's nowhere as dewy as a well grown sundew, but what it lacks in dewiness, it more than makes up for with the sheer adhesive strength of its resin. dvg

Wow!! That looks amazing, Dvg! I can see how strong the resin is by the big wasp-like insects on the leaves. Great photos too.

Thanks guys.
The plant is slow growing and that might be because of the lack of the symbiotic assassin bugs that typically reside on this plant in situ.
It hasn't been fertilized, so i'm guessing the growth is coming from whatever meager nutrition is being collected from the media, and that photosynthesis is the bigger provider of nutritional assets to this plant.

DVG, how is the plant doing?
I got some R. Dentata seeds at ICPS, and will be looking to this thread for advice, as well as some other sites.

R. dentata is supposed to be the easier and faster of these two species. Mine is growing in a peat based medium now, and i'm thinking of repotting it into a larger pot soon. Best of luck with your seeds there Gabriel. dvg

It has grown a bit since i last updated in July. Tried fertilizing this plant a few days ago, so will have to see how that turns out. dvg

Cool DVG! I've just sown two of my seeds with no treatment, gonna save the rest for later. Hopefully they pan out!
I'll be curious also to see what fertilizers do for them.

Hi Doug - It looks great! I'm really impressed with the growth. I'll have to snap a shot of my little plants soon to show you. I think you may have caught and overtaken mine for size. Nicely done!

Thanks Apoplast. I find this species to be quite slow growing, but at least it's growing. Do post an update of your plants, i'd like to see how they're coming along for you. I love the Roridula's if you by any chance come across extras, could you please let me know thanks sam Roridula is best grown from seed or if someone has extra plants, those are best picked up in person because the plant most likely won't survive the shipping. dvg

Hi Doug - Will do. I'm off to collect wild rice for the rest of the week (one of the few benefits to living in Minnesota), so it will have to wait until after that. But I'll show off my plants! Even if they have been surpassed by yours. If you weren't such an expert CP grower, that might be embarrassing!

Hi Doug - Here is the update on the larger of my two plants. Like I said I think yours has gotten bigger even though it was started later. But I'm hoping to get mine again going this winter. I tried to give it a bit of a summer rest as it might experience in habitat. I'm not sure if that's called for or not, but it didn't kill it. The coin there for scale is a Canadian penny (I figured that would be appropriate on this site).

Very nice plant.
Ok, now I want one. What's the best place for seeds?
