A) use a clear container to slam over fly entrapping it.
B) Use something like a business card or piece of firm plastic to slip under cup and trap fly.
C) Put the container with the trapped fly in the freezer for one-two minutes or so. Time will depend on how much air is in the container and insulating the fly.
D) Fly will appear dead...you want to take it out once reaches this point...don't freeze it and kill it.......put into trap....as it warms fly will wake up.....and trigger trap....and keep moving to make trap close fully.
First couple times just keep checking fly till looks dead....then you'll know how long to allow. This methods avoids fly taking off and not triggering trap....or the trap being damaged by the tweezer used to put fly in.....this is trick magicians use to bring a "dead" fly back to life.....it's just warming up.

you can also just stimulate the trap afterwords. once you put your food item in (ideal method for feeding dead bugs or freeze dried bloodworms). the plant triggers and closes, about 1 minute later, gently squeeze the trap, not so hard to crack or break it, just enough to cause the sensor hairs to trigger again. once they've been set off twice it will register as caught ant the plant will digest.
