They look like they're from another planet. I got one at Loblaws a few years ago. They grow really well outside in summer and you can bring them indoors as a houseplant over the winter.

Sorry c12, I don't think mine's a foetida. Just a hybrid of some sort with purple/white flowers and yellow bracts.

my vine has been re potted and is in full sun, current climbing the trellis attached to the pot, i hope for blooms soon, what could speed this process..? nice to know others are into this plant, it is a beautiful flower i recently planted a Japanese maple tree. Orange tree:

We used to have this in the backyard at my parents place. The thing was a prolific flower'er' and always had attention drawing flowers. very nice plant. Pretty tough guy as well. It was assaulted on its bottom leaves by bugs...but still thrived. Didn't make it through the winter freeze though. Parents now replaced it with a new rose plant.

Have a Passiflora alata which makes nice red flowers, but slow growing.
