My boss hired George Brossard to do a motivation speech! This guy is really hilarious and very energetic! At the end of the speech , he started pulling scorpions and tarantulas from his pockets into the restaurant. It was supposed to be a speech on motivation for the landscape company but instead he did it on self -motivation. Basically what he meant was, we have all have the possibility to start our own companies, just need motivation and confidence. you guy's should have seen the face of my boss, so funny. He did not care much about my boss!!!, nice. ;D

I think a bug area on the forum is a great idea.
On a similar note I would like to hear the procedures others use when acquiring new plants.... Dips / Washes / Re-potting / Quarantine.
As an orchid grower I have a strict routine and I am always looking for new tricks. ;D

Leny, would you be willing to share your routine for acquiring new plants, do you use a dip on them?

lol vraev, there actually is a martial arts style called mantis... Yeah! I have seen it on TV. There was this documentary where this dude shows ppl the nastiest bites from the insect world and he interviews a lady who uses the mantis martial arts.

I had this orchid mantis link on another thread, but thought it would be appropriate here as well. Those preying mantis are very aggressive, especially when trying to catch a yellow jacket hornet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFXTxphcmZs

I Always wanted a Mantis, I Am stunned by the appearance of the devil's flower mantis, Thats quite unreal, almost demonic looking, Wouldent want him winding up in a bad dream. Great pics ellsie.
There is a youtube vid with a mantis catching a hummingbird outta the air i once seen.

Thanks Sawchuk!! Yeah, the Devil's Flower Mantis looks pretty surreal. The male in the picture is in a typical threat display, where he's trying to make himself look bigger to potential predators. Those colorful "armpit" colors are actually eyespots (image the blue areas as eyes) and hopefully you can then see a "face". Actually, I've been getting quite an interest about both mantids and stick insects. I'm considering if I should hatch out an eggcase of a "typical" looking mantis, like the one in the picture that Tom posted earlier in this thread. At least then other people on this forum can give raising mantids a try!! I believe the same species of mantid (Chinese Mantid) in Tom's earlier picture is the same one in this picture, eating a hummingbird:

Where would someone buy one of those exotic Mantids to raise in Canada? They must be illegal to ship across borders.
