HB, how bright is that light. Will it do all that you had hoped?

Hi dvg,
Let's just say that you can't stare at it directly, the only issue is the throw so it will surely need a reflectorized housing [probably build my own]. Besides, it only cost me 45 including shipping from the U.S.
Also, you will see how the CFL lighted up my basement. My 400watt halogen work lamp can't do what this baby can.

Hey HB. I've been using those CFL's in my culture and hardening rooms for a few years now and am very happy with the results. Just a word of warning though, some aren't as good a quality as others so keep your eye on the housing at the base. If it gets real hot and you start to get an ozone smell from it, it's best to chuck the bulb as they can start on fire. I've had a couple of the made in China ones melt down on me.

Thanks for the warning Keehno! I have seen your culture set up in your website and saw a couple of those cfls. I was thinking of building the housing out of wood and I wilt try the heavy duty ceramic bulb socket. I will look around for plans for the housing. Or maybe just use the light dome used for reptiles as I have lots hanging around.
Happy Holidays!!!!
