... is this d. capensis alba? I just got my order from Hawaiian Botanicals today, (YAY!) full of my newbie plants... (which I am very happy with!)... and it kind of looks like there's an alba or two in with the capensis typical? I could be crazy (Or just not knowledgeable enough!), but it looks like one! Am I not able to tell for sure until it blooms? Is it too young to tell yet? ...Or maybe it just hasn't gotten as much light as the others? Heeeeeeeere's some pictures! (I hope they're not too yellow to tell! If they are, I'll post some more tomorrow in natural light.

Thanks! I think they look a bit sad right now from the trip over here, haha. They just came out of their plastic bags a few hours ago.

I have some D. cap 'alba' started from seed, and they look very similar to your pale yellowish green caps. Looks like you put them in a nice big pot...they are going to be monsters in no time. Maybe not the 'alba's, mine are no where near as robust as the broadleaf or typical. Looking good, but once they flower you will have carpets of them in your other pots if you are not really strict about removing unplanned flower stalks. Nice plants. Good luck to you and your soon to be army!

Haha! Yeah, I've heard the capensis can be a bit skanky! The pot they are in is slightly smaller, ...but not by much. I'm just using the black one as a "tray" cause it has a glazed inside and I think it looks nice! I have it in a boring green plastic pot on the inside, haha. And I hope it's an alba, I surely like them! Well, I like both. Should I put him in quarantine? Haha!

Highly likely, them are some clear-lookin "tentacles"
While it could be light issues making them so pale, they sure do appear to be albino D.capensis

yeah! sometimes sundews grown in lower light levels can look like the alba variant. Once it keeps growing toughly, you can confirm if it indeed is the alba. But yeah....great looking plants. As Dvg said, in a while they will be thriving. Have fun.

Thanks guys! It just seems odd that they might be light-deprived. Since I just got them a bit ago, and they're in the same dirt clump as the other capensis. So you'd think they'd be getting the same light! But I suppose stranger things have happened? Hehe, anyway...I'm happy no matter what they are.

TAEL: Are you crazy? Definitely... just like the rest of us here. I always thought that this was a prerequisite for joining this fun-loving group. Looks like your plants have recovered very nicely. I'd guess that you have an albino as well, as I would imagine that Rick grows all of his Dcaps in similar conditions. My albino's seem to have a pinkish tinge to them, but they do flower white. It will be interesting to see what yours do in high light.

Hahaha! I definitely wouldn't disagree!
I'm excited to have both kinds! (Assuming they are, in fact, albinos)... I guess we shall see when it flowers!

Are there 1 or 2 plants in the pot? 'Cos it looks like that there's 2 different D. capensis in there. The one with clear white tentacle are looks like D. capensis 'Alba' while the other is not. If there's only one plant, then it's a typical D. capensis experiencing low loght condition.
Just my 2-cents worth, ~A~
