Just a question about filiformis seeds. I got a couple plants from Syble during our meet at her house. How long after the flowers close can you collect the seeds? I broke open a pod the other day to see and all the seeds were still green and it had been well over 2 weeks since I last saw open flowers.

I think you should leave the pods on till they are papery-dry and brown. I have had pods ripening for over a month now and they are still green and firm. I have a feeling they won't be ready to pick until the weather gets cold.

yeah, I don't know exaxctly how long it is but once they start to split a little, they're ready, just be patient

Wait for the seed pods and stalk to turn brown. The stalk is the last to turn brown, so is the telltale sign that it's ready. However, before splitting open the seed, just cut off the stalk and put it in an envelope for a couple of days inside your house. This ensures any last moisture is gone.
To harvest the seed, remove the remnants of the flower off of each seed pod, the seed will usually fall out on its own after this. Sometimes I use some very fine forceps to dig out any remaining seed.

One of my scapes was pretty dry and brown looking. The seeds came out easily and now I have 100's from just the one scape.
