I have a D. ordensis that is annoying me a little bit. I got in April from Kheen's. Growing conditions as follows: non-enclosed terrarium, high humidity (60%-90%), temps 19C-25C, soil 2peat:2sand:1perilite, sitting in water tray 1 inch high on 6 inch high 2 inch wide pot, 2 T12 sunlight bulbs on for 14hrs a day and this is what it looks like... When I first bought it it was in low humidity under 4 t12's and had the burnt tips and some dew on the leaves. Now, the tips are still getting burnt and no dew on the leaves. I assume that the no dew is because of lighting, but have no clue about the burning tips, any help The tendrils look good until they start unfolding the head, then they burn...

I've found the petiollaris complex to be very tricky-I lost my derbyensis. My paradoxa seems to be doing Ok under high humidity with warm but not hot and bright but not sunny conditions (filtered sun through glass and a thin window covering). Some people have very complicated set-ups for this group.

It looks like you've got the plant in conditions that are too damp, both with humidity and moisture in the planting mix. I've had my best results treating them like cephs and pings.

I have recently been experimenting with peat from a different source. I had some Dionea get a little burnt looking. Dumped some RO water in and measured the conductivity of what came out. I was surprised to find it quite high so I rinsed all that I have been repoting lately. Could be fertilizer added. Stephen

hmm... well, I tried to help this poor little fella out, but he's getting worse now the tips won't produce the end part... Anyone think they can add him to a good home before it passes away into CP heaven?? If so, send me a pm....

I just looked at the roots, they have new white tips on them, so it's growing anyways I guess. Could it just be that this could be going into dormancy or something? I re-potted it and put it into my terrarium. We'll see what happens I guess.

So, my little d. ordensis is picking up a bit. After my last post, I put it into my terrarium 6 inches away from the lights always sitting in about 1 inch of water, now it looks like this: The hairs are still not coming up, but at least the heads are developing and not burning off. Plus, dew is finally coming on it! Yeah! Cheers!
