Well, here we are nearing the middle of May, I thought I'd let everyone know how things are going here in Niagara. Be nice to hear how other outdoor growers are doing.
First some of my northern Sarracenia flava specimens (Virginia stock) are getting very close to flowering. I'd say about a week or so away if we keep this cool weather highs around 15-18C or so... sooner if it warms up.
My flytraps have bounced back nicely and infact one of my all green clones is starting to send up a flower stock already.
The only outdoor drosera I have is D. filiformis, and its starting to uncurl. Looks like it going to be a good outdoor season. I hope to post a lot of pics this year as this is the second season outside for these plants and they should look really nice.
hows everyone else doing?

Well, all my plants I had in dormancy died. So... lol... it will not be a great outdoor season for me, but for my inside plants, it looks like the better one since I cultivate the CPs. Oh, and I cant wait to go to the "rendez-vous horticole" in montreal this month(plant meeting). I'll get a lot of new plants!

TiTom- at least one member here should have a good amount of outdoor plants for sale VERY soon Purpman- Pretty much ditto here too, my P.grandiflora are about ready to flower (PS you want one of them Purpman, I got extras eh?) and my S.flava are all probably exactly where yours are- buds starting to kinda bulge the way they do. I might get pics later, since it's a nice day My D.filiformis is also happily eating, has been for a couple of days if not weeks. Still not much sign of any big pitchers forming yet but that is not far off now

My bog is quite a bit behind all of you lucky niagara / point pelee people, but I had flava, alata, rubra and purp flowers just coming out of the hibernacula the last time I looked. They might be an inch high by now - whoppee doo
All of my drosera either got lost by being stuck to the pine needles that I used for mulch or they got picked off by birds looking for nesting material. The pings got eaten by slugs last year when I didn't have time to tend to things like I would have liked.
Hopefully, I can restock those plants this year when I finish relocating my bog to a (hopefully) better location, as they are too shaded in their present location right now.

Speaking of things moving around... last year, I had obtained a hobologger from Brian to see what, if any, the difference between "mulching" with pine needles vs snow was. I just dug out a hole where my new bog was going to go, filled it with media and put the logger at a location where the surface would be. Once winter got rolling, I covered it up to give it a good head start. I wasn't able to get out in the back yard for a week or so after all the snow was gone, and I'll be darned if the hobo logger was gone. It looks like some animal may have dug it out.
What the heck kind of critter would do such a thing?

I was thinking more along the lines of a firearm Those who know me will attest that finesse isn't my strong suit
