Not sure about everyone else, but my bog is changing looks so quickly now, that it's hard to keep track. About a week ago I seperated a clump of seedlings from the spring of 06, went to check on their progress and it took me like 10 minutes to find them, they went from undescript green pitchers to pointed and flared maroon pitchers! The leucos in particular are changing, first of all they're putting out actual pitchers now, but the colour and shape are far changed too, must be on their "Autumn Crop". But even the seedlings. From early on the leuco seedlings from Deer park alabama have been nice and showy, where as the ones from gas station site have been, well not! But they are turning out to be the ugly duckling tale, the pitchers comming off now are great with larger white spots, and few and fine veins, nice contrast from the other ones... All kinds of sarrs are comming on strong though, a flava var ornata is pumping out another crop of pitchers, this is by far my most constant flava, and favourite! all the hybrids are kicking out new crops, and there is special mention for a minor X ?? (I think alata minds gone) the form and colour of those pitchers are great! I could take a whole new set of photos and would be very different from the last set I made!
But it's not only the pitchers that are growing double time. the varrious VFT are kicking out bigger traps and lots of them, the sundews particularlly the various filiformis and binatas I have are kicking out leafs like crazy and just dripping with dew. a clump of red filiformis caught a sphinx moth! Pings are doing well too, but I would have expected to see hibernacula soon? anyone else?
Hows everyone elses bogs and out door planters doing?
