I've been overwintering this pitcher plant in my mini bog but for the life of me I don't know what it is. I'm afraid I do not have the web capability to link a photo but if anyone wants to give it a shot send me a PM with your email address and I will forward 2 pictures, or if you are on pots send me a snail mail address and I will send a printout!

I think "posting linked photos" is gonna be a seminar once we get a meeting together, or maybe I should write a tutorial or something, as a few folks have been having troubles with the feature- next time I see ya, Brian, I can easily explain how to do it for free, once you see how it works it's really not so bad
Is this that Sarr you refer to as "minor something or other"??

Mabudon, yes I thought it was like a minor or minor cross, but like I told you I couldn't tell s. rubra from acer rubrum.. I had the same problem when I started trying to id birds at my feeder and for the most part they were all "brown fuzzies" to me! I'm not sure I could put anything for free on the net since my ISP only costs about 6 bucks a month so its real basic service. Tom, thanks again for being a host until we figure this out. And Rick, thankyou for the PM, the photo I took this past weekend is now above but I'll forward one from a month ago. It doesn't show the proportions as well but it shows the colour better before it faded from the frosts.

Would it be possible to have a close-up of the 'head' of the pitcher? A bit like the criminal picture: one from its side, one 'face to face'?

That would help immensely... from what I can see, it looks like rubra rubra

Would it hurt the plant this time of year to just snip off a pitcher and take it indoors for a close-up shot? It would sure beat lying in the frost and the goose poop outside!

Wouldn't faze it a bit - snip away!

Definitely some S.rubra in it- could it have S.purpurea in it somewhere "far back" too?? For hosting pics, it doesn't matter HOW much you pay for your 'net, all's you have to do is go to photobucket.com (I think it's a .com, certainly photobucket) and make a free account and put them up there, the page generates code and everything. I will try to make a more detailed explanation in another thread since this question doesn't seem to be going away

Just trying an experiment. I'm in Quick reply and Image Shack has provided a choice of hotlink or thumbnail links for forums 1, 2 or websites. Inserting option #2 here:

ok sorry, no picture of pitcher, just a link back to the post-it site with a photo of Eminem. No more messing around with this until I attend Mabudon's remedial web class. Rick, I'll e-mail it to you because it shows colour nicely even if the structure is less clear. I'll be back up there this weekend and will try for decent mug shots of the head to send to Tom for posting. Thanks for all of your support guys!

fixed it for ya Brian- the "secret" is this- you get the http address, just like you had it after the = sign.. you make it like this, (substitute square for round brackets, you wouldn't see it if I did it with square ones)
(IMG)http-blah blah blah(/IMG)
and that's IT, no equals signs, no URL no nothin, you had it almost right but had an extra tag and one extra bracket mixed in there, but keep trying and you'll get it
