Maybe dwarf gouramis or pearl gouramis... I've always taken a liking to these smaller species.

I just meant that the neons could tolerate darkness. They definitely are Ok with lights especially if there are shady places to hide in if they want. I'm not sure about direct sun but I would think that any water in direct sun would turn into algae soup.

not just direct sun. Water under our full spectrum flouroscents does that as well....only way to get around it when using nice light is to use a filter.

the saga of my paludariums.... I had set up some half and half setups for the neps and fish... but the neps kept drying out. So I ripped out the styrofoam and stuff...and converted all the tanks back into full aquariums. 7 tanks for fish, one for shrimps and 4 vivariums for frogs... Community tank (60 gallons): Shrimp tank (25 gallons): I got the moss balls yesterday... there are around 30 RCShrimps in the setup... My Dart frog that morphed out last weekend. There's a couple of more in the background: the little fellow climbed up the glass when I shot this pic.

oooh come on D! You don't have rainbow and BALA sharks in there. I love bala sharks. I used to call them SILVER sharks. They are my favourite fish. I had ONE in India. When I got it....it was like 2 inches. In an yr or so...it grew to 6 inches...the shine of it went away as it was alone (its species)...but man! it was healthy as a buffalo. The aquarium guy said "What do you feed these things?" when I was returning back all the fish when we gave back the aquarium before coming to Canada.

thanks guys... I really just wanted to show those round moss balls I picked up over the weekend. This internet is so amazing. I happened to read a post by someone who was talking about their shrimps feeding on algae off a ball moss... so I did the google thing, sourced out a place ... and learned that they were snapped up upon arrival... after waiting another week or so, another shipment came in, so I drove through a wicked snow storm to pick up some (hey when you get the Iwannabug, you just gotta get it ) so I picked up the last two available moss balls. The big one is 3" in diameter. REally neat plants... apparently they grow quite slow and the feel like a soft cat's tail. It squeezes like a sponge nerf ball. I think the large moss ball is over 10 years old. D
