TaDA finished product! seams like I'm scooping them out daily and moving them from the tadpole dish to the enclosed container they stay in untill they complete their change. almost time to move them to the terrarium. It's neat to watch the drastic changes that seam to happen all over a 48 hourish period. First they pop thier front legs, usually one at a time (thats when I fish them out when their 3 legged). Apparently they grow them under the skin till their fully developed unlike the back legs. Then they start to absorb their tails, and as that happens their mouths change from the puckered small mouth to the typical wide frog mouth. Also develop the colouring and the total shape develops more too. Thanks, Sib

Insectavore; Everyone that hatched grew. Some are still swimming around with puny back legs, but others as you see are well grown. The only 1 I lost was the first one to get 4 legs, he crawled out and never found him, he may still be living in the cps, I may never know! hehe. Tom: I must say that rearing them was remarkably easy. I know the water got dirtier then it should have, and they probably weren't as warm as they should have been, and yet I had no losses. I highly recommend the experience. It's neat to look back on the pictures and see just how much they did grow, because seing them every day, was hard to notice the extent of their growth. Thanks again treefrog for the operatunity! Sib

Looks like fun. One day I'd like to try them. Maybe if I ever get anything to grow in TC (Not counting micro-organisms!).

I was thinking of buying a tadpole for my aquarium but I was wondering if it would eat plants like U. gibba. The store owner says it eats fish flakes.

I think the tads will eat anything. I fed my tads, lettuce, bits of boiled celery, fish flakes, and goldfish pellets. Almost all of my big eye tads have morphed into froglets. Here's a pic of one of them sleeping in a bromeliad: Their terrarium currently contains only rocks, sphag and a bunch of bromeliads. Once they get bigger, I will introduce sundews and small neps.

Looks cute. Little frogs are so benign looking.

lol! My mom doesn't want any animals as she is worried that it will take too much care and especially about its feeding when we will be away later in august. I wanted to get a small finger-tip sized one like syb's for my new terrarium design.
