A guide to the Pitcher Plants of Peninsular Malaysia – Charles Clarke Another fine addition to my CP book shelf, containing various maps, labeled line drawings and countless pictures taken in their native habitat not to mention good information. The book starts off with a broad introduction to CP’s then breaks down into pitcher plants and finally into nepenthes. There is a nice little section about reproduction that also includes detailed drawings of the male and female flower parts. Then finishes off with the different habitats within Peninsular Malaysia that various species inhabit. Species covered: N. albomarginata N. ampullaria N. benstonei N. gracillis N. gracillima N. macfarlanei N. mirabilis N. rafflesiana N. ramispina N. sanguinea Not to mention the many hybrids covered. Each species covered goes in to good detail on the locations it’s likely found (altitude, exposure, ect), distinguishing characteristics, sizes, as well as description of both upper and lower pitchers. To accompany this is a good host of pictures, often of upper and lower pitchers, and also hybrids, flowers, forms and entire colonies. Yet again Clark has given tons of information, presented it so even a novice could understand and augmented it with another set of stunning photographs. I do recommend this book to General enthusiasts as well as nepenthes fanciers. I’ve really enjoyed this book. Sib
