I could have given you my seeds, I threw them out months ago. Grow anything else! Petunias, tomatoes, anything but not Ibicella. It's not even carnivorous, it's vile.

I've been seeing an ornamental plant all over the neighbourhood that is some sort of Ibicella but without the stink, slime or hairs and with much nicer flowers. Does anybody know what it is? I could tell from the flower structure that it is a close relative probably same genus.

Tom? Are you serious or pulling my leg (What's the Quebecois equivalent?). Impatiens are in the Ericales order and Ibicella is in the Lamiales order.

I was more refering to the similarity of the flowers than that to the taxonomical criteras... But now thay you mention it, I think you then means the genus Proboscidea, genus from which Ibicella was once a member. Flower are pratically identical and they come in a variety of color. Got a violet one once, from Andy of the UK (Triffid nurseries)... Proboscidea louisianica? I can't remember

That looks like it. Sorry, I thought you were taking advantage of my atrophied sense of humour.

I went to the "jardin botannique de montréal" this weekend. Outside, in a mini-bug, were some sarracenias, drosera capensis, drosera binata, and vft. I was looking to the identification panel, and I seen " Ibicella lutea" , the plant were not here, but, it was probablly the case this summer. I am propagating a dionaea "akai ryu" for the SCAPI now, when the plants will be ready, they are supposed to put some in this mini-bug the next summer...
