What i found interesting was the nep stopping to be carnivorous for a little while as it had enough prey.
I don't know if that was a fluke or "planned" by nature. Still a nice subject for interrogation. Same thing for my vfts sometimes that ate a lot and for some reason the trap won't trigger as a big interesting insect walks straight into the trap, absolutely triggering the hairs inside.
Each trap of a vft can only close a limited number of times. approximately 7 times. This is because the trap needs to grow in the hinge to reset the trap. Each time the trap has grown to reset the trap, the hinge of the trap becomes thicker and less bendable. This is why the traps become slower to close each time the trap is tripped. So when you hear people say it is not good to keep playing with the traps of a vft it is because it can put stress on the plant and cause it’s demise. This is what I was taught. If someone on here knows different please fill us in.
