Several years ago I received a watercolour painting that one of my grandmother's friends painted at our family cottage on Bell's L (S of Owen Sound). The painting is by Cdn artist, Carol Cole Olgilvy. At first I thought nothing of it until I became interested in CPs, orchids and other riparian plants. In addition to the native potentilla, you will recognize the wonderful pitchers (Sarracenia purpurea). While I have found over a dozen orchids around the lake, most pitcher plants have disappeared from publicly accessible areas. Thankfully populations still exist in harder to access areas. Enjoy. PS, sorry, not for sale

Hi KP, thanks for sharing a pic of your painting.
Were you able to determine when the painting was done?
She, the artist, was able to do a good job of capturing the red veins in the Sarracenia pitchers, especially with watercolor.

My mom has several other paintings of native plants (mainly orchids) that were painted by Carol but this is the only one with CPs that I know of. Carol was a close friend of my grandmother. They both spent their summers at the cottage since they were teenagers (around 1900).
