Hello, My name is John, from Hamilton area, Ontario. I am new to keeping carnivorous plants, but am looking forward to growing my own monsters. I am big into aquariums, breeding both fish and freshwater shrimp. Cheers!

Hi John! Welcome to the forum. Just a wee warning though - this can end up being a very rewarding hobby, but it may come at the cost of having a much slimmer wallet, cuz the hobby can also lead up to a CP plant addiction of sorts. Just so you know what you're getting yourself into... On the other hand, best of luck in your new endeavor! dvg

Thanks, dvg! I'm starting to get what you're talking about. Already trying to sort out a few different planters etc. There's something like this addiction in the aquarium hobby. We call it "multi-tank syndrome". The good news is that my better half works for a conservation authority, and she loves carnivorous plants. But she can't keep house plants alive! She gets to live vicariously through me as I grow the collection, and I get approval for more plants Looking forward to gaining knowledge and contributing to the community. Hi John! If you're happy with easy, common plants, it can be a modest hobby. Once you get into "I have to have this", then the sky's the limit.

Welcome! I can give you some free Drosera capensis (Cape sundews) as starters if you wanna try your luck next week. I am located on Hamilton mountain but currently in San Francisco (the Cephalotus and Heliamphora exhibit here is amazing!) but will be home next week. PM me if interested
