Hi gang, I would like to change an area of my growing room to be able to grow taller CPs (vining nepths, drosophyllum, D. regia) or the ones that have taller flowers spike (Ex : ceph, D. hamiltonii). I don't have a suitable windowsill I'm actually growing my CPs, in 2X2X4 (hXdXw) horizontal setup but would like to do a vertical setup 4X2X2. I'm wondering if I could put one T5HO vertically in each corners so that the light would be equally distributed all over to the high. Two questions : - Did someone already test that set-up or have an Internet link that I could looked at ? - Do you think the CPs at the bottom would have enough light ? Some would think that the light that come from the rear T5 could be dazzling but I'm actually doing it with one T5 and it doesn't bother me at all. Thanks.

Salut Shogg - It is an interesting idea you propose. Because of the phototropic response from the plants, my guess is you'll still need the strongest source of light coming from the top. Otherwise you'll end up with your plants growing toward the lights nearest them on the sides. Perhaps a very bright spot light at the top? I'll be interested to hear what you end up doing.

Plants growing in rooms getting light from windows basically have a vertical light from one side and they do OK.

Thanks guys.
Apoplast - That's my concern too. I'm planning to use good reflector panels for the inside (3 sides) and extend the corners of the front side a bit to promote the best ligth reflexion I can get but some light will escape from the front opening ... I'm a bit worried the plants will grow towards the back or side of the growing area.

Thanks sokkos, I was not familiar with the intracanopy term. It will surely help me in my research. LED would probably be better for what I'm looking to do ... I'm also a bit worried about the heat amount generated by the T5 but I don't really like the color effect.

I had one four foot light aligned vertically in my grow room for my vanilla (orchid) vine.
It worked well but I had to rotate pots so that plants would not develop leaves facing in one direction (towards the corner light).
I had tinfoil on the opposite walls and glossy white paint everywhere else.
Plant growth was excellent, except for some leaf burn.
I gave it up after two years as my vanilla became a space hog and started interfering with other plants.
Final note: water and electricity dont mix. Be sure you are plugged into a GFI receptacle and that the bottom of your light is very well shielded from water.
