I got these seeds from Maiden (thank you again Maiden!) And sowed them on August 29, 2016. It's in pure live sphagnum moss right now and moist to the touch September 9th, 2016 I see germination from one of the seeds about 11 days in

...Good luck with these Dany! I have tried Heliamphora seed, from various sources, five or six times......Dismal success rate - 0%. These will just not pop for me. I have stopped buying/trading as it is a shame to waste such valuable seed. I hope these do well for you. Happy Growing!

solely based on my personal observation, and ymmv Germination times can vary dramatically from species to species, cross to cross. I've had nearly 100% germination in under 2 weeks for one cross, to another group that took nearly 9 months for the first to sprout and then had a 70% rate. (under identical conditions) Age and how the seeds are stored can also have a dramatic effect, Maturity rate is also variable, my "Beast" went from seed to flowering adult in less than 3 years. This was true not only for me but for others I shared sibling sprouts with (albeit very experienced Heliamphora growers) I've also has groups that took years to develop their first adult pitcher. with Heliamphora, I would not give up on seed for 12 months congrats on the successful germination, (I would look at the lower seed with a loupe, looks odd to me, normally the radicle emerges from the end not the center, sort of looks like mold)

Do not worry. It has happened to all of us at one time or another. I remember the first time my u. quelchii sent a weird leaf. I booked one of my friend, a good photographer to take the picture only to see the leaf open a few days later ...

...very nice Heliamphora germination pics Briar, unfortunately for me, an unseeable sight in my grow spaces! Dany, some of my seeds looked similar to your top one. I also started to count my chickens before they hatched. Sorry for the downer, again, the best of luck!!!

fwiw, I soak mine in a Trichoderma atroviride bath for 24 hours then sow
IMHO it hydrates the seed and inoculates it against many fungal pathogens right from the start.
The seed hull of Heliamphora is very resistant to mold, I suspect the embryo of that seed was dead to begin with.

...I soaked some Heli seed in just plain rainwater for 24 hours, some for 48. Never had problems with mold, just zero germination. Dany, I've got some semi adult H. Sarracenioides x Purpurascens from BCP, a few group orders ago. You can come by and pick some up while you're waiting on those seeds. Just let me know. Cheers.

I actually thought it was a Sarracenia seedling until I looked at the label. This was the seed that did not have the mold in the above post. I'm pretty happy that it germinated. It was in 100% humidity with day temps of 23 degrees and nights of 14.
This is my first time growing them from seed so I was wondering when should I lower the humidity?
