This is the Large Yellow Lady's-Slipper, Cypripedium calceolus L. var pubescens. I took this pic on a rural sideroad near my home that bisects a cedar wetland. Literally hundreds of these slippers blanket the hydro cut beside the road and this population seems to grow every year I visit it. A rare exception to the rule! The Large Yellow slippers are bet 1-2 times bigger than the Small Yellow's and typically have yellow/green petals in contrast to chocolate brown on the Small Yellow's.
