Hi everyone, I was wondering if my cephalotus would do better in my basement during the hot summer where it is nice and Cool. Rather than in my hot bedroom. I heard they grow faster when it is cool and slow down when it warms up. Is this true? I also heard from someone they don't need a dormancy and from someone they do. What's do they really NEED? If they need a dormancy how? Thanks everyone hope to hear soon.

I don't typically give mine dormancy. Sometimes they go dormant all on their own though.
I grow mine in HL conditions and have for years. They do fine

I don't think so
I have a local friend that has grown a 8-10" pot of cephs for almost 20 years now without dormancy

They won't flower without dormancy. So if you want seeds someday dormancy will be necessary
It's probably good to give them a rest they seem to grow faster afterwards

I bought three very nice plants on eBay from someone who lives about 30 miles away so I went to collect them. He grows his Cephalotus plants in aquariums on his window ledges inside the house. Very warm and 100% humidity. So now I am growing mine in the same conditions and I am convinced that it's a successful way.
I have got some frost fleece material sited on my window to prevent the full heat of the sun shining on the propagators that I am using. I've seen temperatures as high as 37c. Judging by the condensation I would think the humidity is 100%
