Hi everyone! I am a total newbie to carnivorous plants, and got hooked in by an interesting venus fly trap in the grocery store. After doing some general reading and research about them, I can't help but be intrigued by all the other different varieties of carnivorous plants out there. I'm hoping to learn enough here to keep my little trap alive, and maybe find some sources for other interesting CPs as well - perhaps plants more suitable for an apartment dweller with limited sun exposure. Here's my little guy: (Don't worry, he doesn't live on my desk, he's actually out on the balcony now) Also wondering, where is the best place to post stupid beginner questions? Is there a stickied thread somewhere? It's nice to meet you all Sarah

Welcome! Feel free to ask anywhere you think is suitable. We have a "General Carnivorous Plant Discussion" and all the genera specific subsections

Welcome aboard. First, use the search function, there's great chance you'll find your answer. Then, start a new thread if you don't find it.

Hi Sarah, welcome to the forum. I'm pretty sure that a starter VFT is a surefire gateway to a much larger CP collection, before you know it. Hold on tight! dvg

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. Dvg, you're right! Vfts are definitely a gateway plant. I cannot wait to try some pings and sundews. They look so cool and sounds like a much better fit for my environment than traps.

...welcome to the CPSC... This is what you should do before you go any further. Place your new Flytrap on the table and next to it your wallet. Now you must ask yourself which you want to keep, you cannot have both! Just kidding, it's not that bad... AV.

Welcome Sarah. Thats exactly where I started 10y ago in 2006. I still remember posting "All I want to do is grow VFTs..and grow them well...with good colours...as it is meant to be.....I don't care about nepenthes". 10y later and wow.....that was totally not true. Once u r hooked...there is no hope. lol Nice looking plant btw. Not often do u see such good specimens on sale at grocery stores.

There's no turning back indeed, I started with a D. capensis 'Alba' and thought I'll be happy with just one plant...
