Hey Everyone! I wanted to send out an invitation to everyone that might be able to make this. I am putting on a small Carnivorous Plant Expo through my work at the Victoria Butterfly Gardens, 15 minutes north of Victoria B.C. I will be bringing in hundreds of carnivorous plants to display as well as a couple other local growers will be putting on displays. I will be displaying Sarracenia, Mexican and Temperate Pinguicula, Hardy and Sub-tropical Drosera, and 40-50 cultivars of flytraps. I will be there to answer questions as well as short talks around noon. There will also be daily draws for free plants. No plants will be for sale (as this is being hosted but the Butterfly Gardens) but as always plants can be ordered through myself and picked up. Care cards for new growers will have links to our forum and I hope we can get a couple new members this way. It will be on June 11th and June 12th from 10am-5pm on both days. If this goes well I will be putting on another one next year with more features. Any questions can be asked in this thread so that everyone can see the answers. Look forward to seeing anyone that can make it. Justin

...Right on!!! As much as I would love to attend, unfortunately I cannot. Really admire what you're doing there Justin, big thumbs up!!! I hope you get a huge turnout and everything goes well for you! Cheers.
AV.
EDIT - You just gave me a great idea! Maybe I can make my meet up a two day affair to accommodate more people! Thanks for that!

Nice work there Justin! Taking the time and effort to put on CP Expos to help raise the awareness of mainstream growers to our hobby and also draw in curious growers is to be applauded. And you are also providing exposure of our hobby at the local level. dvg

I won't be able to attend, but I think it's a great idea. I applaud you and all you efforts in this event, and for accommodation of all of the retail orders you are providing for all of us otherwise. Certainly you and all the other growers and enthusiasts on this forum go above and beyond. Great community here indeed. Cheers Rob

Hi H2O - That's fantastic! No wonder you've been so busy! Wish I could be there. I'm headed out to California tomorrow, where I'll get to see the BACPS show and sale (believe its the biggest in North America - though yours might give a run for the money!). Plan to take a bunch of photos and post them on the forum. You know, so you can steal any ideas you want for your Expo next year.

Justin, I expect to see a full report on your inaugural Carnivorous Plants Expo some time next week, complete with pics. Seriously dude, this is great stuff. You should get in touch with a local TV station to send a crew out to cover some of it. Beautifully grown bug eating plants will make for a captivating suppertime TV viewing segment. dvg

So Justin, was it all that you had hoped it would be? Hopefully you had a nice turnout and were able to garner some interest with some potential new CP growers. And maybe you will do it again next year and years to come from now. dvg

That setup looks amazing guys.
Kdawg, you no doubt deserve some of the credit too, working behind the scenes.
Hope you two decide to do another one again next year.
