I dont agree on this point francois, as we are all in the same boat with you. I'll gladly send you my share of this amount. i dont want to be rude but as the extra fees were roughly 10% of the total bill, i can easily calculate 10% of my order and send it via paypal, as i already have your paypal address , weither you like it or not . Its a kind gesture as said lloyd, but we all have responsabilities in this order.

It is only 10% of the total of our order? I was expecting something higher! I'm sending my share too I also think it would be worth pursuing the matter, this can't be acceptable. Very noble of you but I can't morally let you pay for all this unfairness, I wouldn't feel good about it.

The bill said "duty" which is usually charged on any imports worth more than $20. They can also add 13% HST. Maybe we've been lucky with plant orders in the past and they are being more strict and this will be usual from now on. I hope not, but it might be worth it to find out.

Maiden you should definitely take a look into this.. You already had that paypal problem and paid those fees as well. They shouldn't have charged you for those transactions and I don't think these ones are fair.

www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2016/01-99/01-99-t2016-3-eng.pdfI checked out the 0602.90.90.90. Technically this might be true although it's clearly a rip-off and not really applicable to what we are doing here. I think a good case can be made for 0602.90.10.29 This is sort of a grab-bag of plants for which a case could be argued (in the spirit of the law if not the letter) if we claim: "For producing cuttings, buds, scions, seeds" After all, one of our purposes of growing these plants is for making seeds. The categories are pretty weird and I definitely think they really should have used this category which is free. It does indicate the $368.53 is for duty and not HST. I think it's worth a try appealing this to CRA.

I will try; at least; to have a real explanation. Lauren: i didnt heard from you since weeks. Your plants are here, and i cannot keep em. So please reply to this, or throw me a pm. Where else besides the CPSC, do people demand to pay you more money than you are asking for?

Can you have the shipper put a value of maybe $50 on an order, so it doesn't look like something expensive that Customs can try to make a profit on? Or do they need to list the true value for insurance purposes?
