Anyone heard about Lauren? She paid for her order, a good amount, and no sign of life since.

Hello guys First, i got the plants, everything look healthy. I will check them all tomorrow. Next, to get the 3.5k box, i had to pay 368.53$ at my door. "Customs handling for opening the box, blahblah" he said. Thats not cool at all.

That is disgusting. Might as well ask for a bribe. Please give me lots of money for doing the job that my taxes are paying for. Give me more money for following government regulations that you have already charged me for in permits. You deserve a lot of credit for putting up with this.
Maybe complain to your MP?

This is preposterous.
Can the Customer Protection Services be of any help in this situation? Of course, I'll gladly pay my part if nothing can be done, but the feeling of powerlessness and injustice gets stuck in my throat big time right now, as I imagine is the case for all involved lol
Again thanks a lot for your efforts François and very sorry you have to deal with such bull***t...
PS: Let me know if I can do anything about it, perhaps file a complaint.

That's awful Francois. I will gladly put forth my share of the fees, you shouldn't have to absorb it after all the work and effort that you have put into this order. Let me know how much to send you.

If we split it up it will be a easier sour pill to swallow

thx for your kinds words guys, but i cannot accept anything. My main goal with CPs, its promoting them all across Canada. Im not doing this for the money, just to promote this wonderfull and unique hobby. Thats why i make givaways all the time, with rare stuff like helis seeds. So, take this as my gift to you guys, because i want you all happy with your plants. You guys paid enough, now its time to receive your plants Francois

François, this is a noble gesture but it isn't fair. First of all, the extra money was unprecedented and through no fault of your own. It was likely either unfair and not standard CRA policy or is a new type of tax grab. I think it is worth pursuing to clarify the matter with CRA to see if it will be the new standard or if there is some way to arrange pre clearance to avoid or standardize this tariff. In the future we should know how much this will be: a percentage of the total amount; a set amount; a certain amount per plant; or by some arcane CRA algorithm.
In any case, this may be the new reality: any plant shipment with import/phyto permits will have, say a 10% tariff and all buyers will know that this will be an accepted cost for all to share.
The next person may not be able to afford $300+ and we don't want people expecting them to. Everyone going into one of these deals has to know that there may be unforseen costs which they will have to share or risks that plants may be damaged/lost/not quite what was expected.
In summary, all the buyers should pay their fair share of this amount. Otherwise it wouldn't be fair to yourself, the buyers, future group buy organizers or the CPSC.
