I'm an Edmontonian too. Hello everyone from Alberta. Just trying to get started. With a modest collection of Cape Sundews and generic Flytraps from Holes. Pretty sure I've seriously overwatered my fltraps, so trying to correct this now. Have a million and one questions for anyone who has been at this (growing CPs) in Edmonton for a while now. First simple question: Anyone know where is the best place to get some 12 grit Silica sand in town for media mix ?

...welcome to the CPSC, before you start a whole bunch of new threads, use the search function. All the answers you seek are probably here already. Cheers!

Yes. I'm sure Justintime means well. I did not find any specific recommendations on where to get 12g silica sand in our area. Saw a few references to Ontario, which won't help me. Ironically, there seems to be several companies in our area (Edmonton) which actually produces silica based products, like sand, for commercial use. I'll keep looking.

First simple question: Anyone know where is the best place to get some 12 grit Silica sand in town for media mix ? In Edmonton, try Sil Industrial Minerals. www.sil.ab.ca/They will have every size of grit from fine sand to traction gravel and larger. Typically, 50 lb baqs of sand are available...they used to carry the 80 lb bags, but stopped carrying them because they were too heavy to load up by hand. dvg
