Here's Mike Kings latest Spring video with his plants now in his preferred peat free mix and they look to be doing well. He also thinks he derives an added benefit from the top dresseing of milled pine bark preventing some fungus. youtu.be/dIiYFmUl2lUCheers Steve

Wow, this is a lot of CPs !
Nice video, thank you for sharing.
I did not understand if it is told or not in the video but if so, someone can tell me what is the peat free mix ?

At 3:42 he mentions "pinebark, Cornish grit, perlite mix" and earlier he mentioned they are topped with milled pine bark that has Trichoderma in it

I must admit I was dubious about it when he explained it to me, having tried some experiments myself using wood shavings, washed coir etc as a base, non came near to peat in results, but you cant argue with the plants he has. It might be interesting to see what happens to the media after three or four years, it wont trouble Mike as he tends to repot or sell his stock nearly every year, but I am curious. I also know that its not good practice to keep plants in the same media for years, however most of my plants are in outside bogs so I don't want to be changing the media every three or four years.
Cheers Steve
