Welcome to our new forum name everyone!
For new members this is an informal society dedicated to growing, sharing and promoting carnivorous plants in Canada. International members are always welcomed and we encourage everyone to share.
This will be the new go to thread for any forum additions or suggestions. Feel free to add any ideas you would like to see added to our forum to keep things fresh and interesting.
I'm going to go ahead and start changing over all of the names and acronyms to our new name. I'll be changing over all the of the stickied threads, announcements, rules etc. Please message me if you see any of I missed in the coming days.
I'm hoping to get a nice logo and name design done for the new forum that can be added to any advertising or t shirts if we want. Does anyone here have any experience with this? If not I have a friend that does graphic design for a living and she does nice works, the only downside is that it would cost around $200 all in. If we wanted to do this I would be down for contributing to a plant sale to raise money.
After this is done we can start talking about potential t-shirt for the few of us that might want one.

Thank you Justin and all the Moderators for all the hard works! I've taken graphic design in high school (two years) and in university (as elective) and worked for few people for private websites before. I wouldn't mind doing the logo and such, as long as everyone doesn't mind that I'm not a professional graphic designer. Oh and I have plenty of experience ordering T-shirt before because I was the organizer for our high school badminton team for 3 years (g10-12); though I haven't tried ordering for remote distribution before. Looking forward to be continue to be part of this great society! Cheers, Willy

Sounds impressive & exciting. I think it might be a good idea to wait a bit for members to come forward with logos/graphics and see what people come up with. We have a lot of talent here. We could even have a vote on proposed designs. Thanks for all the work.

I also like the idea of getting members here to produce some designs, I've always though something similar to the ICPS logo but with Canadian species would be cool. I'm open to anything really? Anyone have any ideas they want to throw out there?
The like to get the Sarracenia forum T-shirts and the way to do it would be really easy. I don't know if we have a large enough group to do it every year but maybe every couple years we could do a new one.

I know this post is a little old but just thought I would throw an idea out there for a logo I was thinking maybe a S. Purpurea like this one from an old Newfoundland penny

On this topic, does anyone on those forum had editing skills? Or is it worth contracting out someone else.
We could always ask a US member of another forum if we could pay them a small fee to do one up. Some of the guys that enter the Sarracenia Forum contest have some great ideas.

I'd be up for a contest.
Edit: For contest rules we could have something like:
Max resolution, min resolution, file size/format, how many entries, and most importantly editing other people's artwork (sources/permissions so we don't get in trouble)

If there are enough people to make it a contest we can do it. I would rather just see people throw out ideas and see what others are feeling.

Yeah that does sound better. So to start off, what do you guys think of the S. Purpurea idea?

Going to bump this thread, I don't think we have enough people with the skills to have any sort multiple choice for logos. One of our members sent me this link (Thanks!) and mentioned she would might be able to make us a logo. She already has some great stuff of native CP's so we know it will look awesome. hermioneosmers.com/scientific.htmlI would love to see a logo with a species of each native genus represented (one Sarracenia, Pinguicula, Drosera and Utricularia) but that might be asking too much. I would also love to see a banner with these species as well as a logo with no text (something we could put on a shirt with our name printed smaller under it) Would anyone be opposed to me approaching her?
