I've been wondering how to trim a nepenthes properly. I cut the dead pitchers of my n. Ventrata back in October and until 2 weeks ago it hasn't had any pictures, But only the new shoots have been growing any, all the old leaves have grow any pictures. I trimmed the stem right down to the end of the leaf and yet nothing is growing back. :/

Nepenthes will only produce new pitchers on new leaves. Once a pitcher has dried out, you can cut it where the petiole meets the main leaf to give it a cleaner look however, a new pitcher will not grow back. On the newer leaves, you'll notice "tendrils" and these will eventually inflate to form a modified leaf (pitcher). If your nepenthes isn't pitchering, it can be one of many factors- humidity, lighting, watering, etc.. I would say, give your plant some time, N. x ventrata is a very hardy plant and it may give you a flush of pitchers once summer rolls by. It might help to give it a light misting of distilled water in the mornings and evenings.

ok so I should just cut the tendrils of the old ones that dried up and keep the leafs of the old ones on so the leave can still go through photosynthesis?
