Hello Everyone!
We have some exciting news for the forum and we are searching for everyone's opinion.
We have brought up this topic before with no change but we have decided to change the name of our forum to something that includes all of Canada. We are doing this for a variety of reasons, we have grown to so much more then an Ontario group, we aren't an actual society and a more inclusive name allows us to target new members across Canada (something we have a hard time doing in BC because locals question why they're going to an "Ontario" group)
We have kept a great group of people here on our forum while others fall victim to shrinking numbers because of Facebook. We want to stay as current as possible and continuously add to the community.
So we're opening up a discussion on what the members of the forum want to change the name to. The only restriction is that Canada or Canadian is in the name. We have a handful of names already as an option but we would like to hear everyone's input before those are thrown into the mix.
We will be voting on the name once we have picked some out.
After we have chosen a new name we will be doing some fun new stuff with it and spreading the word.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion!
The Mod Team.

I was just thinking about this the other day (after finding the old thread).
I like Canadian Carnivorous Plant Society or Carnivorous Plant Society of Canada.
We should get some sort of logo too! (maybe a contest?)

I really like Lloyd's suggestion.
As a more formal alternative I would suggest Canadian Carnivorous Plant Forum.

That's a good thought Roraima, since we aren't really a society as such.

This is great news! CCPF aligns perfect in my opinion. Seeing as I grew up in a multigenerational freemason family, I am still all for wearing robes (with a CCPF logo of course)

...cool! I like Dany's 'Carnivorous Plant Society of Canada', it sounds more upper class than CCPS.........And who cares that we are not a society, I think we are. I will be organising a local CPSC meet/bbq this Summer, that would constitute a society, no? Hilarious post Bonfield!, I have also been wearing my robe, I'd hate to think it was for nothing, haha. Looking forward to see how this pans out. Cheers.
AV.
EDIT - I also think the logo is a great idea!

I should also look into getting that tattoo removed. Actually, I do have to wear robes or jackets over my regular clothing most of the time because the house is kept at around 14C for the plants.
The bbq sounds like it would be fun! Once I resolve a hornet problem, I should also be able to arrange the occasional meetup.

I don't have the means to hibernate enough Sarrs to deal with this population, which is finding spaces to nest along the entire fence-line. I can't even renovate the yard until they're dealt with, so I'm just going to block all the gaps with tapped-in cedar shingles.
