Anyone have this in a bog?? or in their garden?? can it grow in a "normal" bog or does it go nuts??
I seem to recall seeing a similar thing in a pic Brian sent me, so maybe he knows, but has anyone had good/bad experiences with this species??
I think if it is safe to grow, the colours and weird patters would be pretty stunning amidst a bunch of Sarrs...
Anyone??

LMAO okay man, I know that YOU know your stuff, I will NOT burn it but it'll be kept in an undrained pot on a patio far away from actual dirt, I was kinda afraid this was the case, glad to have such a local opinion though so thanks Bro!!
WHEW glad I posted this- I thought maybe a bog environment might restrict the growth a bit, but having read that it's "more invasive than creeping charlie" and knowing that our climate won't slow it down.... thanks again!!

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE PUT IT ANYWHERE ON YOUR PROPERTY!!!!! I have it in 3 beds at work and still cannot fully irradicate it! We have like a super strong mutant varriety, round up will kill what is above ground, but it always resprouts. It will also revert to plain green with burgundy edge, and did I mention the stink!?!? I can barely weed around it, the smell when you disturb it makes my stomach turn! (Which might I add is the only thing I have found in my life that can do that, impressive considering where I work!) We don't have much problem with seedlings, but we get the odd one popping up "near" the plots, which of course are removed promptly! My grandma put a 4" pot in her garden when I was 10, tried to remove it the next year, she is still trying to irradicate it! I've got to ask, Why would you want this plant? so many other "nicer plants"! I'll even help you pick one out. Thanks, Sib

All taboo's aside, it is actually a pleasant looking plant, but the invasive nature and near indestructibility of it make it black listed for me. Then there is the smell, we have a patch of particularly abrasive plants at work Here's a link for the results from google image bank. images.google.com/images?q=Houttuynia+cordata&hl=en&btnG=Search+ImagesSib

LMAO all caps means trouble for sure!!
Don't owrry, it ain't in the ground, I kinda planted it so as to make CERTAIN it don't get anywhere-
How'd I get it?? Funny thing- there is this highschol behind my house and they have a greenhouse program for the developmentally challenged kids, and they were selling them at their annual sale- the tag said "good for bog gardens or by the waters edge" and I kinda liked the look of it (and Brian, I SWEAR I saw some in a pic you sent me, but maybe not I hope) so I bought one for like 50 cents and looked it up online only to find out some pretty shocking things
And they had several FLATS of the thing there, so here's hoping they weren't very popular cos otherwise our whole neighborhood will be overrun with the things, maybe I should warn them if the sale is still on....
Oh, and I have LOTS of other plants, Syble, this was just a curiousity and I'm REALLY glad I decided to ask about it, now everyone knows
