I got a Nep at a local Green house and the label didn't have the scientific name so I'm at a loss to what it is and I gotta know so I can read up on it's care. I'm fully prepared to set up a little terrarium for it if needed (I already have a tank and space for it) Pics: And then I took this pic to see how close the camera could get It's sitting in some R/O water right now, the same I give to the flytraps

You're welcome! It might also be a ventrata, but the care is the same. As the pitchers get progressively larger, it will be much easier to make the distinction.

Now, it will probably be living under a skylight in the bathroom if it does not go in a terrarium but I'm concerned for when it snows and the skylight gets blocked so I might end up putting it in terrarium no matter what. I'll either do it tomorrow or Sunday (get the tank in, get hydrometer and find a light) What kind light would you guys recommend and also what percent of humidity? (The tank is an old 10 gallon btw)

I have plenty of experience keeping humidity in glass tanks with 7 years of hermit crabs so 70% is no problem, tomorrow I'll go get a bulb for it because I already have a fixture as well as a hydrometer because when the crabs went the hydrometer went with them I'll post the set up when I get it done.

Nice, you'll probably do great with it, especially with all the help you'll find on this forum.

My vote is on it being a Nepenthes "ventrata".

Yeah, I also think I jumped the gun on calling it a ventricosa.

Was the label an angry cartoon tree with honey pots in the branches? If so, it's from Colisantes in Leamington ON and it's most likely a ventrata. The pot looks like the standard Colisantes pot.

Yup, it had the angry cartoon tree Save that label! In 5 years when you're a pro you can stick it in random Neps for a joke. I'll certainly save it then The label said to dilute fertilizer and then spray it on the plant but from what I know about flytraps (assuming this applies to most cps other than Sarracenia because apparently they can take fertilizer better) I'm not going to do this because I'm pretty sure it would kill the plant If they could get lots of nutrients from fertilizer like other plants I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have developed the bug eating thing... Also the label claimed that Neps were more deadly than a "Kung Fu Master... to bugs" I don't think you can make a carnivorous plant sound cooler than it already is unless they're marketing them to kids but kids and plants don't go together I find. I hated plants as a kid

Here is my set up, as you can see it is high tech and sophisticated I got a 20 watt OTT light grow bulb (I couldn't find anything else in a small bulb and a large fixture is currently out of the question because of price) in a desk lamp and half the lid is wrapped in cling film and R/O water is in the spray bottle. I know digital hydrometers are more accurate but I couldn't find a reasonably priced one so next time I'm in the states I'll be looking for that Any suggestions would be great if you got em' Humidity is currently at 65% so I'm gonna go out for 15 minutes, rent a movie and see how it is then if I need to spray more I will
