Hello Everyone I thought i might share with you some pics of my visit to an orchid nursery yesterday called Fragrant Orchids of Maui. The owner, Lloyd, was a really nice guy, with a great collection of plants. He supplies phalaenopsis and a couple other orchids like cattleya and dendrobiums to grocery stores and greenhouses on the island. I got to see those plants, and his personal collection, which was quite awesome. Outside he had vandas growing on trees, along with dendrobiums, cattleyas, and bromeliads. He also had the basic nepenthes, which had vined a lot and were really big. One that caught my attention was his x Miranda. IT WAS MASSIVE! And living in Alberta where there isn't any nursery that ever has Miranda, I fell in love with it. Anyways, he gave us a tour of his nice shade house, and it was really cool. The grounds were also pretty spectacular with all of the orchids in the trees and the alocasia. The part of Maui that they're on is dense, dense jungle on the slopes of heleakala, the dormant volcano. The drive was spectacular, seeing a few wild orchids on the side of the road here and there. And we got lost for an hour, but it was all worth it, because we got to see the amazing can't vining plants crawling up the trees, that had to be 100 feet tall. Thanks for reading! Here are the pics: ( I'll upload more once my dad sends me more because he got better pics)
