Hey everyone. Thought I'd share my indoor plants growing spaces. Nothing crazy, nothing fancy. Just a couple 55 gallon tanks with a 4 foot T8 shop light lid. On either end of the lid there is a gap that I close an end off to keep humidity slightly higher. I don't have a running fan inside of the tanks but, instead, I have a small portable fan placed outside the tank blowing on low towards the open side of the light ballast. A repti fogger blows into the open end as well when I decide humidity could be bumped up a little. I don't run it for more than a few minutes here or there because it's unecessary as humidity in the tanks stays high. I shut my fan off completely at night as my tanks are in the garage where it is by far the coolest and with the fan on my plants at night It gets too cold this time of year. I wish I could say that the upkeep or efficiency with these tanks is great, but unfortunately I have to be very vigilant with the process keeping these tanks stable. No timers for anything yet but I will be looking into it. Summertime is difficult but I have set in motion plans and brainstormed a little to come up with some ideas for an upgrade grow space that will house them all in one area where I can keep them cooler through summer. This house isn't permanent for us and we will be moving but it isn't certain as to when that may be just yet. Could be 1 year, could be 2 now. either way until then I have found a spot I may set up to see how temps and humidity and lighting will work. I'll be sure to keep you updated on this when the time comes.
Anyways. For those who just want to see pics and hate the read. Haha , here are my tanks as of this morning
Fish tank heater in one. This goes off at night, and also when I swap between the heater and fogger. This tank heater doesn't do a whole bunch for me as I think the thing it's in could be a bit bigger so I have a little more surface area warming the inside of the tank, but it's ok for a couple degrees. The other tank has a reptile heat rock in it. Again, not a ton of extra heat within , only a couple degrees at best, and I unplugg it at night for the temp drop. I have a second fishtank heater I may swap with it granted I get a bigger vase to hold water for both of them. As well , granted it does any better providing extra heat. For now this works for me. It Takes up a lot of time for sure, but I'm ok with it.
Thanks for looking and feel free to ask me anything. All I can do is share my experience with you.
